dreams come true

圓
夢

ㄩㄢˊ ㄇㄥˋ yuán mèng

Two versions of the same picture, and both are free with no account and no watermark. The first has no background at all, which is the one to send your artist — but a phone or computer photo viewer set to dark will show black strokes on dark grey and it can look like nothing downloaded. If that happens, use the second one: identical characters on a plain white background. Either way you get the characters on their own — the square and the faint guide lines you see above are not in the file. Each character is 1000px, so a two-character download is 2000×1000, and the script and layout are the ones you picked.

Layout

Ambitions turning real. Chinese distinguishes the dream you have at night from the one you are working toward, and the same character carries both.

Before you commit

Choose with care夢 alone leans toward illusion in Chinese. It sits in 夢幻, dreamlike and unreal, and 白日夢, daydream. Worn alone it reads closer to fantasy than to ambition.

Pairs well with圓夢 for a dream fulfilled, 追夢 for chasing one. Either adds the verb that turns 夢 from a nightly event into something you are doing.

At small sizes夢 is fourteen strokes with two grass strokes over a crowded middle. The middle band closes up small; give this one size.

Meaning

To fulfil a dream; to make a long-held hope real.

Literally to complete the dream, and the phrase used of ambitions met.

What to do next

Pick the script and layout you want above, download the PNG, and send that file to your artist. Ask them to work from the file rather than redrawing the character freehand — that is where strokes go missing.
