ㄩˋ yù

Two versions of the same picture, and both are free with no account and no watermark. The first has no background at all, which is the one to send your artist — but a phone or computer photo viewer set to dark will show black strokes on dark grey and it can look like nothing downloaded. If that happens, use the second one: identical characters on a plain white background. Either way you get the characters on their own — the square and the faint guide lines you see above are not in the file. Each character is 1000px, so a two-character download is 2000×1000, and the script and layout are the ones you picked.

Wanting something badly — the word you choose decides whether that sounds healthy or greedy.

Before you commit

Choose with care慾 carries sexual and material craving with it — 慾望, 情慾, 貪慾. If you mean aspiration rather than appetite, 願 or 志 avoids that entirely.

Choose with care慾 and 欲 are both current in Taiwan and often interchangeable, but 慾 is the one reserved for the loaded senses. Choose deliberately.

Cultural noteBuddhist and Confucian writing does treat desire as the thing to be governed, but it writes that 欲; 慾 is the later form, with 心 added underneath. In Taiwan 慾 is the one kept for appetite — 情慾, 肉慾, 物慾 — so it reads bodily rather than merely disapproving, and simplified Chinese has dropped it and uses 欲 for both.

Meaning

Desire, appetite, craving; often bodily or material.

The traditional form used for lust and greed specifically, heart radical included.

What to do next

Pick the script and layout you want above, download the PNG, and send that file to your artist. Ask them to work from the file rather than redrawing the character freehand — that is where strokes go missing.
